My Journey as an Artist – Creativity, Colors, and Stories
I am Sonja Rissanen, an artist-entrepreneur whose heart beats for fresh Scandinavian art and design. For me, art is not just a visual expression – it's a way to tell stories, evoke emotions, and create meaningful experiences around us.
My goal is to create unique art for people all over the world. I strongly believe that absolutely everyone should have access to art that not only pleases the eye but also supports businesses and strengthens a company's identity when needed.
First Steps into Entrepreneurship
My story as an artist began at a young age, only 15, when I worked for my aunt's company, maintaining her visual online store. The company's products were Finnish design, and even then, I got to dive into the world of creativity, aesthetics, and visual expression.
The enthusiasm for independent work that sparked then remained strong within me. I realized how much I enjoyed combining creativity and entrepreneurship – building something of my own, with my own hands and my own vision.
The Birth of My Own Company
Over the years, my passion grew and eventually led to the establishment of my own company. Initially, I focused on selling paintings – works where I could express myself freely and make my own artistic world visible.
When I graduated as a visual marketing professional, my vision expanded even further. I wanted to offer businesses more than just individual artworks. This led to the idea of murals and digital art services – ways in which art can be a part of a company's premises, brand, and customer experience.
Nature as the Greatest Inspiration
My art draws inspiration from the nature surrounding us – its colors, forms, and textures. In nature, I am particularly fascinated by its peace, rhythm, and details that often go unnoticed in a hurry.
The love for finding beauty in small things is a big part of my artistic process. It can be the reflection of light on the surface of water, a pattern etched into tree bark, or the spectrum of colors brought by the changing seasons. It is from these moments that the genesis of a new work often arises.
Art in Many Forms
I create art in a wide variety of forms – from paintings to digital graphics and illustrations. Every project is an opportunity to create something new and meaningful, whether it's a piece for a private home or strengthening a company's visual identity.
For me, the most important thing is that the art feels authentic. That it touches, makes you pause, and leaves a mark.
Looking to the Future
As an artist and entrepreneur, I constantly want to develop, learn new things, and find new ways to bring art into people's everyday lives. I believe that well-designed and heartfelt art can change the atmosphere of a space – and sometimes even a person's day.
