Learn about the story of Paperihattu
Paperihattu was born from a family of artists' love for Finnish design
The story of Paperihattu began with a shared passion for Finnish art and design between a mother and daughter. Graphic designer and illustrator Kaisa Rekinen (the mother) and marketing entrepreneur Sonja Rissanen (the daughter) had been creating their own designs for years alongside their careers. Eventually, they decided to harness their expertise and establish their own joint online store, where others could also enjoy and purchase their art products.

One of Paperihattu's principles is Finnishness. Paperihattu's products are designed by family members, and production is handled with Finnish partners.
Inspiration from other European countries in addition to Finnish culture
We enjoy traveling together as a family, especially when it comes to European cities. Our favorites include the small villages of Italy and France, the historical charm of big cities, and the impressive mountain landscapes of Central Europe.
Many of our artworks and designs have drawn inspiration from these places. Perhaps, if you look closely, you might find signs of it!
Pierre - Paper Hat Mascot
Pierre is our little frog adventurer, who sometimes wanders into social media posts — sometimes in the background, sometimes in the corner, and sometimes right in the middle of all the hustle and bustle.
Pierre can't really sit still. He hops, rushes around, excitedly points at everything imaginable, and chatters away as if the world were full of one important discovery after another. And perhaps, in his opinion, it is.
